You can do it yourself, get a ball peen hammer then close off all vents and areas that can leak in the tank. Then pump the tank full of air to about 10 to 11 psi, making sure not to over fill the tank. Take the ball peen hammer then slowly bang along the area of the dent and watch the dent disappear. Slowly empty the tank and you are ready to repaint.
Sportste gave a great answer but i would add use a pressure regulator and a small hammer and tap lightly around the outer edges of the dent and it will pop out .. Now if you take it to a professional it will cost around four hundred bucks or so to get it like new .. anything less is a bargain ..
1) do not paint it yourself you will not like the results. Not to mention the hazzards of painting.
2) to fix… 200.00 +

Be careful if you use the air pressure method, I know someone who did that and ended up splitting the seam and wrecking the tank. It all depends on how big and where the dent is. If it is a small dent towards the top of the tank, it will be hard to repair.
